Math Matters
So Crystal and I were at the grocery store yesterday. I had with me a rain check for a discount on oatmeal, which they were out of last time we were there. 2 for $3, quantity 1.
When we get to the checkout Crystal handed the girl the oatmeal and the rain check so that at the end she wouldn’t have to go through everything that was scanned to fix the price, we’ve made that mistake before. She seems fine with this, takes the paper, scans the oatmeal, and then pauses for a moment, clearly thinking very hard. I figured she was trying to remember the process for dealing with a rain check, since it’s not a normal bar-coded coupon.
After about 10 seconds she looks at me and says, “2 for $3…that’s $1.60 for one right?”. My response, “uh, it should be $1.50”, to which she replies with a smile, “oh ok!”, types in the price, and proceeds with the rest of the scanning and whatnot.
I don’t really have any further comment, but I thought it was a pretty good story.
