I would like to thank twinpines for the ability to fully appreciate that opening.
I thought maybe they would retroactively give it Best Picture for the last 25 years. Possible upset?
Does he make it through the speech? Haven’t seen it yet!
If only I had not chosen The Gruffalo
Jen’s 185 minutes is looking might fine right about now. It started on time at 8:30 right?
sad face, i lose the pool
Unless my aforementioned BTTF upset quite deservedly happens.
Just how I like it. Ties are for suckers. Go Annette and Social Network!
His earlobes are bigger than my head.
We went out to dinner, fully intending to go see the 10:30 showing of DRIVEANGRYSHOTIN3D but about halfway through the meal I realized that there was just no way that I was going to make it through the movie, so here I am tumbling about it, and probably falling asleep within the hour. I wanted to see the movie with an opening weekend crowd, otherwise it’s just not worth it. So it’s now unlikely that I will ever see it. Oh well. It bombed at the box office yesterday, placing 9th, so maybe there wouldn’t even be a crowd tonight.
For dinner we went to Gordon Beirsch and I got the steak sandwich. I should have known something was up when he asked how I wanted it cooked. I’ve only ever known steak sandwiches to consist of many pieces of steak, shaved or cut up or whatever, and thrown on a bun with various toppings. This was a sirloin steak on a baguette. It was good, but strange to eat.
whatevermethinks: I don’t think we ever actually discussed Magnolia, I remember you saying something about it once. And you’re right, hate is a strong word, I forget when/how it came up anyway, but it stuck with me that it was among your least favorite movies. And I felt the same way the first time I saw Moulin Rouge, I believe the first thing I said when leaving the theater was something about tripping on acid, and I really disliked it. It took a repeat viewing years later to turn my opinion.
No tattoo this weekend. And I certainly will not be getting a quote as a tattoo. I was giddy with beer and rum. Drinking + tumblr = fun but you post dumb things.
Annnnd that is why they don’t let drunk people get tattoos. I would probably carve that off of myself if I woke up with a quote on me. It’d probably even be in the tramp stamp area.
Seriously though I want to get one of something else, thanks for the artist suggestions so far and let me know of you think of anything else.
I can’t reply to replies. The story goes I have been thinking/talking of getting a tattoo of a particular geeky thing for about two years now. When I started this talk I said that if “I still want this a year from now I’ll get it”. Obviously I am late. These other quotes actually do apply as well because Crys and I have had this conversation a few times now in the past few years. Any suggestions for a tattoo place? We are ready literally by tomorrow.
at least in the Roxanne scene. He rocks it.
a secret exclusive for y’all (because i’ve had a few and am feeling talky as is what happens on the weekends)
Moulin Rouge! is one of my favorite movies ever. I love it. I bet some of you are surprised but hopefully most are not. (we were looking for something to watch on Netflix and we found this)
I also really love Magnolia. I know whatevermethinks HATES it, but to each his/her own, I think it’s brilliant.
It’s kind of strange/awesome to watch a few episodes of Party Down and then Parks and Rec because of Henry/Ben.
(Un)related note: still haven’t watched REC2 but we will soon. I keep putting it off because it’s scary.
I’m calling shenanigans on this one. Nolan has stated more than a few times that he is not on the 3D train, choosing instead to use IMAX when appropriate. Really using IMAX, not just blowing up the picture and putting it on an IMAX screen like every other movie that comes out these days does.
More likely Warner Bros. is doing it and Nolan has nothing to do with it. Or maybe they told him that they are doing it with or without him, and he is at least checking in now and again so he has some input. Even that seems wrong because with The Dark Knight Rises filming soon WB should be doing everything they can to keep Chris very happy.
And while we’re on the subject of 3D, is it bad that I kind of actually want to go see Drive Angry Shot in 3D? (I am considering that the complete, correct title) I love bad movies but I hate 3D because it’s distracting and makes the picture too dark and sometimes blurry, but when you have interviews where Nic Cage talks about hoping that his tongue can reach the fourth row, how can I *not* want to see this as it was shot? It’s either this or The King’s Speech so I can make informed choices for the Oscar pool.
